every leader carries stories of passion beyond

While my career in global technology leadership and impact philanthropy is well known, I’ve always believed that the soul of a person lies in their creative pursuits. These talents — cultivated quietly over the years — bring balance, joy, and deeper meaning to my journey.

Today, I share them not only to express my own journey, but to encourage, support, and unite women around the world. May this space serve as an open invitation for us to share our gifts, strengthen one another, and build a global platform where our creative forces combine to generate beauty, empowerment, and impact together.

Here, I share with you the beautiful corners of my life that may surprise you — and I invite you to share yours too.

Hidden Talents

Ethnic Fusion Clothing Designs

Fashion has been a lifelong love. At just twenty-two, I turned my passion into purpose by launching Saima’s Boutique — a handcrafted fusion of Eastern heritage and modern elegance. I built the business from scratch, creating unique ethnic fusion designs that celebrated Pakistani, Indian, Turkish, Afghani, and Persian styles, and sold it profitably two years later.

Enhancing Stitching & Embroidery Skills

There’s something deeply nostalgic and healing about returning to the simple crafts of our childhood. Lately, I’ve been joyfully refreshing my embroidery and stitching skills — a love I first discovered at around six years old, watching my late mother sew with grace and patience. Practicing a particular stitch I remembered from those early days has felt like a gentle conversation with her spirit.

This craft not only reconnects me to cherished memories but also continues my lifelong passion for clothing design. I am embracing this revival of skill with both humility and excitement, as each thread carries the legacy of my mother and the generations before her.

Fine Jewelry Designs

My admiration for regal craftsmanship comes to life through jewelry design. Inspired by the splendor of the Mughal era, I recently created a masterpiece: a necklace embellished with radiant rubies and emeralds, delicately tucked into 22-carat gold with intricate motifs. I’ve also designed rings echoing the same royal patterns, honoring the artistry of my ancestors.

Writing

Perhaps this is no longer a hidden talent — especially with the launch of saimaali.info and my reflections shared across LinkedIn. Yet, my writing journey is closest to my heart. It is my sanctuary and my legacy in words. This section will serve as a growing, organized compilation of my writings: personal reflections, leadership insights, and soulful expressions from my heart to yours.

Gardening

Gardening has become one of my quiet joys — a deeply grounding practice that reconnects me to nature and the cycles of life. As I nurture each plant and witness its growth, I’m reminded of the patience and care that every aspect of life requires. Whether tending to fragrant herbs, blooming florals, or lush greenery, my garden is both my sanctuary and my living classroom.

Each bloom feels like a small prayer fulfilled, and every harvest is a reminder of the beauty that blossoms when we nurture with love and intention.

Dancing

Dance has always been a source of energy, joy, and cultural expression for me. From practicing ancient Indian Kathak and lively Bollywood movements to formal salsa classes in my mid-twenties, dance has remained a lifelong passion.

Growing up among fellow Muslim and many Indian friends in the vibrant Triangle community, I naturally embraced the rhythms around me and wove them into my own style. Today, I innovatively blend these traditions into my workout routines, moving seamlessly to global beats that include Arabic melodies, Bollywood classics, jazz, Latin reggae, and the timeless rhythms of Bob Marley — a lifelong favorite.

For me, dance is not just movement; it is meditation in motion, a celebration of life, and a tribute to the global cultures that have shaped my heart and soul.

Home Decor

Building and decorating several homes over the years has refined my eye for historical Islamic artistry, with a special passion for Mughal art and traditions. Through trial and joyful error, I’ve curated spaces that reflect my heritage, blending old-world charm with contemporary living.

Cooking

Raised in a family where being the best cook earned you the highest respect (tough crowd!), and as a mother raising three globally electrified, brilliant children, my cooking skills have naturally evolved. Weeknights see me whipping up 15–20 minute meals like Korean BBQ with brown rice, while weekends are reserved for elaborate feasts — like overnight-marinated, steam-roasted leg of lamb that spoils my children and keeps our traditions alive.

“Through every creation, from my table to my canvas to my counsel, I carry the heartbeat of my ancestors and the prayers of tomorrow’s dreamers. May this page be a reminder: life is the art we live daily.”
